The Leap Years

"A saint once decreed that a man must agree to a woman's proposal today. Give me a sign whether to meet me at Eight and at the same place you sit and fulfill the traditional of February 29."

oh gosh, it's already 1am and im still fully awake.

Just watched The Leap Years on well...a leap year. The girls and i are persistent to watch this local film very badly and like the tittle, we really would want to watch this show on a special day like this. i mean....well...it's real hard to have a feb 29 until 4 years later u know...haha.

I asked my sister to come along as well, as she too also wanted to watch the movie very badly as we do and also because we have an excess ticket(can say i sorta treated her =/)

the show was not bad though, despite me and my sister missed the first few mins of the show. We got a really good laugh at those local jokes and i do find it weird when i saw the movie's background is somewhere i knew. I duno if anybody would feel this way, as in.....it's pretty hard to come across a local film and that mostly i watched were either from the West or probably Asia...but rarely Singapore.

I never knew CBD is that beautiful from the other side, i really love the city turns out in the movie, it just seems somewhat familiar and at the same time, foreign. It's kinda mystical thing, really.

I totally loved the background music, it was totally heartwarming. I nearly cried at the scene whereby the female lead had no choice but to give up on the male lead, whom she had a promise to meet on every leap year. And the background music even pushed my tears stronger, but luckily enough the scene didnt last long as it pans to the next scene. Nonetheless, i find this show very intriguing as several meaningful quotes was dropped from time to time.

and yes, i was LOL-ing when i saw Allan Wu(just in case anyone doesnt know, Allan Wu's actually Lilin's husband) popping in the middle of the show....everyone in the cinema theatre laughed out too. SO LOL LA.

on this note, i must really say the movie really capture the essence of Singapore very well, the SBS buses, taxis, the corridors etc, it's really very singapore-ish and i realised singapore itself is a really beautiful place and that i didnt realised that despite living on this tiny dot for the whole of 18 years!

nonetheless, watch it. It's worth your time to discover the another side of singapore >_o

"My dad used to told me if i were to write a letter containing my wish and throw them down the building, the gods would make them come true. But I always do not know what to wish for, and that's why all my letters are blank."

ps: Just realised the terrific background music used in the trailer title is "Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence" by Sakomoto Ryuichi
